Lineage 2 is an MMORPG developed by NCSoft, first released in 2003. Over the years it has received many major updates (chronicles) — from C1 through Interlude, Gracia, High Five and Gods of Destruction. Each chronicle has its own unique gameplay feel and loyal community.
Private servers allow players to experience older chronicles that are no longer officially supported, or to enjoy custom gameplay with different rates and features. To play on a private server you need: (1) the game client for that chronicle, and (2) the server's custom launcher/patch. Most private servers provide their own download links — L2 Astral includes a ready-to-use launcher on their website.
